Between 23% and 40% is the optimum amount of time in the office for hybrid working, suggests Harvard researcher.

21st June, 2022

What's the ideal ratio of home to office work? This is such a common question right now.

While this perspective from Harvard is one of the most scientific and detailed we've seen, an 83-page working paper accompanies it for those with a propensity for detail!

There's a significant angle on the quality and skills of management that accompanies this debate.

The role of (line) management is broad and challenging and has evolved considerably in light of flexible working. With less visibility, managers are challenged to value the quality of team members' outputs rather than inputs (how they do it). Also, managers must truly understand the people they manage - focusing on the person, not the role, understanding how to motivate them and communicate with them to enable them to perform at their best, often requiring clarity in expectations and a confident balance between challenge and support.

At Friday at Five, our passion is to engage, develop and get individuals and teams performing beyond what they believed was their best. We do this through a range of approaches and tools targeted at individuals, teams and leaders. Get in touch to find out more.
