Spotlight is born from the world of sport where knowing yourself, your method and your mind are vital to driving performance.
In the workplace, it offers the same benefits but helps individuals and teams be more productive through understanding personal performance preferences, how this impacts many aspects of how they approach their role, and engagement with their peers, clients and the businesses that they work for.
Here's a bit of background on how I utilise the benefits with my clients as an accredited practitioner.
Spotlight Individual
Spotlight measures performance preferences; behaviour and mindset
It provides insight into individuals;
Motivation drivers
Strengths
Weaknesses and blindspots
Confidence 'sappers' and boosters
Response to pressure and how we can be more resilient
Energy boosters
Approach to decision making
Stressors, what 'presses our buttons'
It is not a measure of capability but provides an excellent understanding of one's self, method and mind
It can support recruitment briefs and onboarding
In understanding this, individuals can become more effective working with others and enhance their performance under pressure
Can be used by the individual, by line managers, by a coach or mentor to understand and support performance
Creates empathy and a mutual understanding of others behaviours and mindset
Ultimately it provides us with insight to be more adaptable, an essential skill in a rapidly changing work landscape
Spotlight Teams
Utilises individual Spotlight insight in addition to Team insight
Measures and provides a snapshot of team performance
It can be used for recruitment
Excellent for developing team dynamics and identifying collective areas for development allowing more strategic targeting of training/budget
Team areas measured include:
Psychological safety
Stability and Adaptability
Process and Possibilities
Security and Risk-taking
Support and Challenge
Gives targeted 90-day recommendations for teams to improve performance
Can be remeasured to assess performance progress
From seeing the impact, this has had for both the individual's personal development and for their performance in the role, its valuable insight that I believe more people should have access to. The insight is excellent for personal awareness but also a useful base to coach individuals; this can often be in areas that hold them back from achieving full potential.
